Organic Pine Kernels
- Net weight: 25 g
- Origin: China
Organic pine kernels are really a seed. The seed can be found in the pine cone, which grows on the pine tree - a coniferous tree, which is grown mainly in the Middle East, the United States and China. As a raw material, pine nuts are quite expensive, but that is a natural reason. The cones are for 3 years to mature, and then they must be heated to release the seeds. Each pine loin gives approx. 40-50 pine nuts, all of which are surrounded by a chestnut-brown skin that is hard and hard to remove. Thus, the high price.
In November and December, in selected supermarkets you can buy whole pine cones and let them stand in a warm place until the seeds slowly fall off the cone so you can release the individual pine nuts by removing the hard shell.
Enjoy the precious kernels with the mild, aromatic taste as topping for the summer salad or as an ingredient in the pesto. Highlight if necessary the nutty taste by giving them a light roast on the pan until they turn golden and serve with a sprinkle of salt.
